A more detailed story of how the Clans got from the books to here is too come, but for now, this summary captures the overall changes.
Decades have passed since the time of the lake cats from the books, and the Clans and their territory have all changed. All the old cats have been forgotten and their descendants are lost. The cats have been forced to move territories after numerous twoleg, animal, and weather threats wrecked their old homes.
ThunderClan, once known for its tree-climbing abilities and forest territory, has become StormClan; a Clan reborn from the harsh weather haunting their lands. They've lost most of their ability to climb trees swiftly and effectively, but have gained brute strength to hold themselves together against harsh winds and to help put together strong shelters that can protect their clanmates. Their stamina is average as they typically work slowly but efficiently, but their stealth is almost non-existent. Prey typically gets caught among the debris of all the storms, leaving it easier to catch. They also can be found frequently picking up and eating already deceased prey, as the storms definitely kill off a lot of the smaller animals.
WindClan has become AdderClan, giving up the open moors for a rockier terrain, laced with both venomous and non venomous snakes. They've kept and honed their speed to help avoid the swift strikes of the snakes, and have gained a great deal of stealth over the years to help stalk prey. The terrain is very rocky as stated before, with thick patches of grass higher than the cats can see over. They have to use acute senses of smell and hearing to search for danger through the thick patches of growth they can't see past. They are poor swimmers who prefer to stay as far away from the water as they can with low stamina.
RiverClan has kept most of its old self. They have kept their name and strong swimming abilities, with excellent stamina to boot. They have powerful muscles to propel themselves through the waters, but are relatively unstealthy. Most of their diets consists of fish they find in the many little streams and ponds that twist through the territory. They've lost the big rivers and lakes they're used to swimming in, left with only one relatively large pond and many small streams. They aren't excellent fighters on their own and prefer to use the water to their advantage whenever possible.
BoneClan is what ShadowClan has become. Definitely the biggest shift of all the Clans, BoneClan has lost many traditional Clan ways. Consisting heavily of rouge decedents, clan names aren't the standard here (although still present). Their territory is thick forestry, and the cats living here have excellent stealth to slip through the trees and brush. It's typically very shady, cold, and wet around their territory, making greencough, whitecough, and even blackcough concerns all year round. These cats have average strength and aren't very good swimmers. They do, however, have very acute senses all around and a good climbing ability.
