The GreenLeaf day was hot and humid, the early afternoon sun making Thunderpaw feel hot and dozy. Still, he was restless. There was so much of the territory he hadn't seen yet, he was itching to go patroling. He was also wondering if there might not be signs of Meadowstar out there that had been missed.

The young tom looked around the clearing. The cats in sight were preoccupied, several of them napping, apparently feeling the same dozy sleepy feeling Thunderpaw himself couldn't quite shake. Perhaps he could just slip out of camp for a bit and return unnoticed... Just than he saw the other StormClan Apprentice, a she-cat named Sedgepaw. Thunderpaw smiled. Here was the perfect accomplice for this mission!

With the leader missing, there was a feeling of restlessness Sedgepaw had, had since the search patrol. Unlike the other cats in the camp, Sedgepaw was not lazing about, or sunbathing. But she didn't have an activity in mind, either. Her thick pelt in the sunlight felt like she were covered in fire, and sometimes that day she felt a bit dizzy. She felt like curling up in the shade and falling asleep, but she knew it would be impossible to do that when at the same time she felt bursting with energy and hungry for adventure. Sedgepaw sat by a pile of heated rocks in the sun, staring at the plump mouse that lay by her paws. She had picked it out hungrily, but now that she were sitting, staring at it, she knew she couldn't eat. Pushing it away, Sedgepaw stood up, shaking out her blue-gray tabby pelt and looked around the clearing. Most cats seemed pretty occupied, lazing about. Except for one cat- Thunderpaw. It seemed the moment she looked at him, he had spotted her. When their gazes met, she knew that he had something in mind. Something crazy. Something fun.

Sedgepaw headed towards Thunderpaw, the usual spring in her walk returned. Swishing her tail, she stopped infront of him. "Hey Thunderpaw," She meowed. "Are you up to anything?"

"I'm about to be." he replied with a smirk. Lowering his voice so no other cat could hear he whispered to Sedgepaw. "I'm gonna go explore the territory. You wanna come along?" Thunderpaw's green eyes were flashing with excitement and mischief. "I thought maybe there'd be some signs of Meadowstar, something that got missed. And anyhow, we could learn the territory. It's better than sitting around here all day." Thunderpaw swatted at a bug that happened to trundle to close by him. "What do you say Sedgepaw? You in?"

As Thunderpaw explained what he was going to be doing, Sedgepaw grew a mischievous smile. "Oh yeah," She replied quietly. "I'm in all the way" She was yet to see a lot of the territory. Most of what she had seen had been on patrols she joined in, after all Meadowstar was yet to assign her a mentor when she went missing. A new excitement bloomed inside of her. This would be so much better than sitting around camp bathing in the sunlight. "So when do we leave?" She asked quietly, swaying her tail. She nearly started bouncing.

Thunderpaw looked around. It didn't look like anyone was paying any attention to them. He stood and walked nonchalantly towards the entrance to camp, than sat a couple cat lengths away in the shade and began grooming himself. He kept glancing around, and when he saw a good clean opportunity he was on his paws and out the entrance with nary a sound. A moment later the tip of his tail appeared, beckoning Sedgepaw forward.

Sedgepaw waited, her tail curled around her paws, as Thunderpaw slipped out of the entrance. When she noticed his tail, she glanced around quickly before trotting out the entrance bluntly. She pressed against a bush next to Thunderpaw, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. She waited a moment, incase any cat noticed they left, and stood up. "Let's go," She meowed. Bouncing lightly, she slipped onto the path. "Where have you not been, Thunderpaw?" She asked, as she hadn't been most places, so to her it didn't matter where they went.

Thunderpaw followed her, his caution growing less and less with each passing second they weren't caught. "Well, I've been to the Graveyard." he said, smirking. "I think I've seen all of that place I'll ever really want to see it. Besides that, no wheres. How about you?"

Glancing around, he lowered his voice. "We should get off the trails you know, especially near camp. If anyone is coming back from or going hunting they'll run right into us, or at least our scent."

The leaves bent under her paws as she trotted down the path. "Likewise," She replied. After a small pause, she glanced behind her shoulders. "Yeah, good idea." Steering herself off the path, she looked at her denmate once more. "So where do you want to go first?" She asked. Now that she was under the shade, she felt cooler and almost refreshed. Some nice water would do it, but she was so into the exploring, she really didn't care about a dry tongue.

(I don't think we HAVE to, I didn't see it in the rules anywhere at least. Being that we should be going all over it's probably easiest if we just leave it here)

"Hey, what about that little stream, up at the North West part of the territory?" Thunderpaw suggested suddenly. It was so hot out, it was apt to be cooler near the water. Maybe even a little breeze. And besides, he'd never seen a large body of water. "Maybe we can teach ourselves to fish?" he suggested jokingly, a giant smile on his face.

Sedgepaw nodded at his suggestion. "Yeah! I think it's...this way." She meowed. And although he was joking, she took it seriously. "Oh yeah, I bet I can catch a fish without falling in!" She turned and started padding backwards, staring Thunderpaw down as if it had been a challenge. With a adventurous smile on her face, she turned and raced into the bushes.

Thunderpaw scented the air, trying to smell the water. He caught a slight whiff of what could have been the stream, but didn't know how to pinpoint the direction it came from. Grinning he raced through the brush after Sedgepaw. If they came to the stream than so be it, and if not, there'd be other fun to have. The young apprentice launched himself up a tree and leaped from one low hanging branch to another, racing above Sedgepaw's head where she'd see him if she looked up. He'd almost caught up to her using this technique despite her head start.

Rustles and movements above her caused Sedgepaw to glance upwards to see her clanmate racing above her in the treetops. But she didn't spare a second in amazement and boosted ahead, increasing her speed as she saw that he was catching up. Coming close ahead, she just noticed, was a large rock. She leapt as high onto it as she could before skidding off of it and landing clumsily on the ground. Running fast again, she saw the stream a bunch of fox-tail lengths ahead. Still not faltering, when she reached it she leapt onto the other side, a few drops of water landing on her pelt. Stopping her fast pace, she turned around and sat down, panting lightly and looked where her denmate was.

Thunderpaw tried to leap the stream from the low branches, but failed miserably. He landed right in the water with a loud splash barely half way across. Lucky the water was not deep enough o the current strong enough to wash him away, but just strong enough to help break his landing. He grinned at his Clanmate sheepishly. He'd managed to throw water at her when he landed. Standing up and shaking his fur out, he looked around at the water. It was a striking contrast to the muddy rising water of the woodland graveyard.

As soon as she turned, Sedgepaw found herself lightly dripping with water. "Thanks..." She meowed sarcastically. She would have laughed, but threw a jokeful glare at Thunderpaw instead. But even despite her trying to look serious, she broke into a smile and padded over to the edge and peered over into the water. She didn't spot any fishes, probably because of Thunderpaw's "amazing" entrance. Placing one paw into the water and feeling the rocks below, she saw that the water wasn't deep at all, and she leaped at Thunderpaw for 'payback', attempting to knock him over. "Ha!"

Thunderpaw laughed as Sedgepaw slammed into him, knocking them both over. Soon both cat's laughter was echoing off the trees as they played and splashed in the water like a couple of kits. Thunderpaw crouched and wiggled, than leaped at Sedgepaw in a well-signaled attack. She of course dodged and he sailed past her, into water they hadn't entered yet, and Thunderpaw learned the lesson of rivers and streams; how quickly the depth can change. Instead of being in a scant inch of water Thunderpaw was in more than a foot of it, well over his head and still sinking like a stone.
