Cherrykit sat in the entrance to the nursery, bored out of her mind. With the queens napping and no elders to tempt her with stories, the young kit found herself making up games to play. During the thoughtful beginnings of another game, Cherrykit's eye rested on the high rock. Suddenly inspired, the mostly white kit fixed her pastel eyes on the top and scampered over to the base. The highrock was huge when you where right next to it and she suddenly understood why their leader had to jump once or twice to get to the top.
With a sigh of determination, Cherrykit screwed up her face and jumped, catching hold with her claws and climbing up the leaders rock slowly. As she climbed, the tiny lit muttered praises and fantasies to herself to make climbing more fun. With any hopes the small white and cream kit could make it to the top before any other cat spotted her. This was a mini adventure in itself.
As soon as she reached the top, the kit let out a squeak of excitement when she saw how tall she suddenly was and mewled the familiar gathering words, only to realize too late that she said them loud enough for the clan to hear her. Panicking, Cherrykit backed away from the edge and flattened herself to the rock, maybe no cat would notice her and she wouldn't get in trouble.

Aspenpaw smiled when Cherrykit yowled out from High Rock. He'd been watching her progress with semi-bored interest from a shaded position in the camp. Now, he stood and stretched, yawning. Glancing around to see if anyone had been paying attention he loped over and climbed carefully but quickly up to where the kit was attempting to hide. "Whatcha up to Cherrykit?" he asked, grinning knowingly.

Giving a squeak of surprise, the littlest kit turned to face her 'captor' who, being an apprentice, was much larger than her. Cherrykit's pastel green eyes were wide with the fear that she might in trouble.l, and her creamy tail was puffier than she thought possible.
It took the kit a moment to realize who had found her, and relaxed as soon as she saw who it was. Aspenpaw was fun and wouldn't tell on her. Still, Cherrykit had to play around with him. "I'm not...up toooo anything, Aspenpaw. I'm just trying to undermine Quailstar is all." The she-kit teased, a wide smile on her maw.

"Oh yeah?" Aspenpaw asked, a devlish grin on his face as he played along. "You know what happens when you try to undermine your Leader, don'tcha? Especially Quailstar." Unlike most apprentices, he rather liked the kits. He liked telling them stories, especially scary ones. He liked telling them about the territory after coming back from a Hunt or Border Patrol, always embellishing what he saw and did greatly. He was always up for giving them piggy back rides or playing with them or showing off the new techniques he'd just learned. And in return the kits tended to be in perpetual awe of him, which Aspenpaw particularly loved. "Better be careful Cherrykit; she might just feed you to a snake!" Aspenpaw couldn't help it, he liked scaring the kits at least a little. Usually, they enjoyed it just as much.

A squeal of fear escaped the tiny white she-kit's maw. Would Quailstar really be that mad because she had been playing on the high rock? The thought of being fed to a snake terrified her mostly because she was totally small enough for a large snake to tangle up. Without thinking Cherrykit jumped at Aspenpaw, attempting to simply get past him to the ground. She didn't want to get in trouble again!
Once Cherrykit finally made it to the ground, Be it jumping or falling with Aspenpaw, the kit rounded on her heckler. "You wouldn't tell on me, right Aspenpaw? Y-you're not mean like that, right?" Her fur stood on end and the look in her eyes proved that she believed every word that the older Tom let poor from between his teeth. As funny as she looked, Aspenpaw had managed to work her up fairly easily and needed to calm her down a little just to avoid the wrath that all queens had when their kits were bothered or scared.

Aspenpaw smiled at the tiny she-kit. "I'm not gonna tell on you, Cherrykit. We're friends, and Clanmates. I can trust you and you can trust me. I'd only tell on you if you were doing something really dangerous." he assured her. The young apprentice bonked his head against her's. "And besides, I was only kidding ya, Quailstar wouldn't feed you to a snake and deprive the clan of a fine Warrior." Aspenpaw grinned and winked at her.

Cherrykit Giving a sigh of relief, Cherrykit nodded happily at Aspenpaw's promise not to tell on her. Even if she was the only kit in the clan, the tiny white she-cat was happy to have Aspenpaw to play with when she was bored. "Good, I'm glad." Cherrykit smiled, looking around for something else to do. She was super energetic and needed to find something to keep her occupied, a game, something else to explore, anything. Finding nothing to explore, Cherrykit blinked at Aspenpaw for a moment before her ears perked and her tail shot straight up. She knew just what she wanted to do and she was allowed to do it since they were in the camp and not going to leave. It was the perfect way to tire out the little kit and give Aspenpaw something to do as well. "Hey, Aspenpaw, can you teach me some hunting or fighting moves? Please, please, pleeeaaaaaseeeee?" The kit's big, pastel green eyes shined up at the apprentice in front of her while she begged. Aware that he might say no, the kit kept thinking of something to do. Maybe if he said no and she jumped at him, he'd have to teach or play with her. Aspenpaw wasn't going to get the kit off of his tail now that he'd started talking to her.

"Oh, alright, I guess I have time for a little training." Aspenpaw said, although in reality he had all the time in the world and relished the opportunity. He loved teaching the kits the moves he'd learned, it made him feel important, and older, like he was a Warrior ready for an apprentice himself already. "I'll show you the defensive move I just learned. It's pretty basic, but it's fun to practice. You know that a cat's weakest, most vulnerable spot is our lower underbelly, right? Because it's so soft and unprotected, but we can get really hurt if another cat or other animal scratches or bites us there."

Cherrykit Bouncing with excitement, the little kit gave a mewl of happiness before forcing herself to stop and staring at the older tom in front of her. Basic or not, this might give her a chance to let loose some energy and give the queens and clan a much needed break from her troublesome game ideas. She would make a good apprentice and warrior simply because of her energy and willingness to learn, but for now the tiny kit was certainly a trouble making kit. Cherrykit waited for Aspenpaw to show her the move and watched him intently, drinking in everything that he did so that she could copy it to the best of her tiny body's ability. The simplest moves were probably best to teach Cherrykit only because of the fact that it would be three more moons before she got a mentor and anything more than basic would make her too cocky, although many cats doubted that she'd ever act like a know-it-all instead of an information sponge. "Show me, show me, show me!" Cherrykit begged happily.

Aspenpaw made a theatrical fanfare of a mock battle to get to the move. "It's a big StormClan Warrior coming at me, see? He comes at me from overhead, like this, see? But I dodge him, and I comeback at him with both paws. I just opened up a gash right across his nose, see it? But now he's really made, and he knocks me back of balance, and I fall over backwards."
Aspenpaw launched himself backwards, sliding a couple fox-lengths across the clearing on his back. "Now he's coming right at me, going for my exposed belly!" Aspenpaw suddenly pulled himself out of the battle and looked directly at Cherrykit. "Now here's the move, so pay real close attention, okay Cherrykit? See, he's coming for my belly, so I bunch my back legs up really tight, covering my belly, and than just at the right moment I kick out towards him-" Aspenpaw demonstrated kicking out fiercely with his back legs. "-and I follow it with flipping over and back up. If I time it right I can injure my opponent pretty badly if I have to, even blind him, and either way it should give me enough time to get off my back and protect my belly and be ready to fight again."

Cherrykit Cherrykit watched Aspenpaw with wide open eyes and even cheered him on once or twice. It was obvious that she was enjoying the show as much as the learning. "Go Aspenpaw!" The small cream-and-white kit gasped when he was 'flung' back and watched the move as closely as she could, bouncing as the apprentice kicked his imaginary attacker away roughly and jumped up. " Wow, Aspenpaw! That's so cool! You're really good!" Cherrykit cheered him as she hopped onto her own back and tried to copy Aspenpaw. The tiny kit munched up her legs as far as they would go and counted to three in her mind before kicking out as strongly as she could. Unfortunately, she kicked so hard that she actually popped up off of the ground and landed on her shoulders. With a gasp, Cherrykit rolled over and stood to try and stretch it out. "Ow ow ow, that hurt!" She complained, arching her back to ease her shoulders. It had been fun, though, and the kit was determined to get it at least kind of right since Aspenpaw had taken the time to show her how to do it. Maybe she just wouldn't kick so hard next time.

"Are you alright Cherrykit?" Aspenpaw asked. He didn't want to get in trouble for teaching her moves too soon, and if she got hurt that's almost certainly what would happen. "Do you need to go visit the Medicine Cat?" He didn't want to get in trouble, but even more he didn't want Cherrykit covering up an injury. Injured kits that didn't heal properly often couldn't become Warriors later on because of the old injury. One of the Elders who had passed last LeafBare had injured himself as an apprentice, and it had caused him to become an Elder within a few moons of becoming a Warrior. The concern showing in the young apprentice's eyes was genuine. "You did really good, you just can't kick out so hard when there isn't a real foe to make contact with." Aspenpaw explained gently.

Cherrykit More embarrassed than injured, the kit smiled at his praise and shook her head at his question. "No. I'm okay. It's already going away and I can walk fine. See?" Cherrykit bounced around to show that she was okay and then playfully charged Aspenpaw, jumping up to bat at his nose and then dash away, although she slipped and fell over. It took the tiny kit a moment to right herself and gave Aspenpaw a perfect opportunity to return her playful swats in kind. "Ah! No! You can't get me, you Boneclan meanie!" The small cream-and-white kit laughed as she teased Aspenpaw and bounced back onto her feet. There was no way that she was going to just lay down and let him win.

Much bigger than her and with actual training experience to boot, Aspenpaw could block her every attack with relative ease. But he didn't. He dodged and blocked some, but others she landed, and his own return swats were gentle, and for the most part well signaled. The overall effect was a battle that appeared very well matched, two strong Warriors of equal skill having a Battle Royale in the camp clearing. Getting caught up in the play, their laughter and battle cries echoed through the clearing. Aspenpaw playfully corralled Cherrykit into a corner. "I have you now!" he cried triumphantly, pouncing, but leaving several openings as avenues of escape for her. He was surprised at how strong and fast she was getting. She was starting to catch up to him it seemed. Kits grew so fast.

Cherrykit Delighting in their play fight, the little cream-and-white kit moved with the agility that smaller, younger cats usually possess. Her attacks were sloppy and obviously untrained, and the way she dodged almost always left her open. The way Aspenpaw let Cherrykit keep up and make hits helped the little she-cat's ego and made a show for the other cats around them who, after making sure they weren't actually fighting, began to watch in amusement. Aspenpaw pushed her back into a corner quickly and the little kit hunkered down as if she was about to pounce. Instead of running away to escape, the Cherrykit jumped just after Aspenpaw was fully in the air and head-butted the larger apprentice in the stomach. Too small to do any real damage with her surprise attack, she hoped to have enough force behind her to knock him off balance or even onto his side. "You can't take me! I'm an Adderclan warrior!" Cherrykit teased, attempting to jump on top of him.
